"Ah the memories.."

I found this photo from August just gone, when Phibsboro's AX599 was on loan to Ringsend Garage..
Here it is operating a short working of route 3 - Belfield to O'Connell Street.

Fresh coat of paint..

This post looks at the respray cycle for Dublin bus vehicles.

The current respray cycle takes place over three years - for example if an AV was delivered in 2005, its first respray would take place in 2008.

Currently, all Dublin bus service buses are in a "Fleet Standard"(FS) livery - Blue & Yellow. The City Tours, Coastal Tours & Airlink Express buses all have their own special livery.
Below are photo's which show how good a bus looks after its respray.

Summerhills AV116 - 127 are all currently in the Airlink livery, they are soon to be pushed onto normal services in Summerhill Garage, most likely route 16A or 41, as these buses will be useful with the Airport services with the extra features they have, including Dual door, extra luggage space, and passenger information displays.

Oh Dear,
There hasn't been many updates lately has there?
Well to be honest the weather hasn’t exactly been great to be out snapping now has it?
Even with all the floods, I still managed to get out one of the days, (which was properly the worst I could have picked) and snapped AV440 about to cross onto O’Connell Bridge heading towards UCD Belfield on route 10.

Enjoy!

Low Floor 75

With all these transfers & withdrawals happening, Dublin Bus have made 5 more routes fully wheelchair accessible.

The 7a,31,31b,67x,& 75 will all be operated with low floor buses from Monday 11th August 2008

The 75 was one that I am happy with, over the last few years anything could turn up on it, and was very rare to see anything other than an RA/RV on it.
But over the past few weeks, AV's and AX's have been operating the route, with the odd RV.

So heres a photo of (whats going to be) a common sight.

AX611 on the 75 on Sunday 10th August 2008 in Tallaght Village.

Wednesday 16 July 2008

Aren't they lovely !

Over the last few years, Dublin Bus have brought new types of buses into operation, the VT & EV. The VT (Enviro 500's) first arrived in the batch of VT1-20 in 2005 and were allocated to Donnybrook Garage, where they still are today for that high frequency route 46a (City Centre-Dún Laoghaire).
Then they launched the EV (Enviro 400's) in Summer 2007, spreading them around Dublin Bus garages in a batch EV1-50.
Then in 2008, they brought more of the VT class into service, another 50 in a batch VT21-70.
They were delivered in batches & took a couple of months for all to arrive. VT21 was the last to arrive as this was a trial bus for a company in Sweden, and has only recently arrived. This batch are allocated to Phibsboro, for routes 10,39 & 70.
The 2005 VT Class :

VT13 on the Stillorgan Road on route 46A

The 2007 EV Class :

EV46 & EV33 on Eden Quay on routes 27B & 84

The 2007 VT Class :

VT40 on route 70 at College Green.
