Aren't they lovely !

Over the last few years, Dublin Bus have brought new types of buses into operation, the VT & EV. The VT (Enviro 500's) first arrived in the batch of VT1-20 in 2005 and were allocated to Donnybrook Garage, where they still are today for that high frequency route 46a (City Centre-DĂșn Laoghaire).
Then they launched the EV (Enviro 400's) in Summer 2007, spreading them around Dublin Bus garages in a batch EV1-50.
Then in 2008, they brought more of the VT class into service, another 50 in a batch VT21-70.
They were delivered in batches & took a couple of months for all to arrive. VT21 was the last to arrive as this was a trial bus for a company in Sweden, and has only recently arrived. This batch are allocated to Phibsboro, for routes 10,39 & 70.
The 2005 VT Class :

VT13 on the Stillorgan Road on route 46A

The 2007 EV Class :

EV46 & EV33 on Eden Quay on routes 27B & 84

The 2007 VT Class :

VT40 on route 70 at College Green.

Whats your opinion on these buses ? Do you like them ? Leave a comment now !

Those taxi's !

Well, its the first of many post for the site so lets make it something we all know.

Taxis' using bus lanes ; wats your view on it ? leave a comment.

The one at the bottom of Sth. Great Georges Street in the City Centre really annoys me, its bad enough its 50% of taxi's using it, but then for them to make things harder for buses turning from Dame Street.

Mr. Taxi man has his own invisible white line in which he stops at !!

New Owner

Well, finally Bus Scene Dublin will be updated, now with a new owner, the blog will focus on the Bus Scene in the North & South side of the city.

Take your pick

Take your pick of what bus you see operating Bus Eireanns route 101. Here VR1 passes the Swiss Cottage in Santry heading towards Drogheda.

Bend Baby Bend

No more red artics to be seen around Dublin airport anymore, DAA have splashed AOA,s on the fleet. Not bad looking neither. Here's one below doing what a bendy does best!

Express to Swords

Something big is about to happen for the folks out in Swords. A new company called Swords Express is planning to shuttle people from Swords to the City in 30 Min's via the M1 and Port Tunnel. Watch this space for photos of this new service. Bus Scene Dublin Blog wishes Swords Express the best of luck with this new venture.

New bus for a new start.

A photo of a Clontarf new EV on route 104 in Santry earlier this week. Clontarf Ev,s have been on every Clontarf route so far except the 53A.

New Logo

Just as Dublin bus completed its Fleet standard paint scheme they decide to change their logo. After much moaning about the new logo, it has grown on me and I now like it. Ill let you decide.

Hello Wadelai!

A quick dart by the plush 11 terminus at Wadelai Park earlier. An AX relaxes in the brief bit of sun we had today!

A First

This photo marks a first for Bus Scene Dublin Blog. Its the first photo of a Bus Eireann Bus. This VC is seen operating a 101 service passing the coachmans (nice grub there!). The 101 route is operated by nearly any bus in the BE fleet, and by private operaters.

Where Once Stood A Tower

Where once stood a large tower block, Stands a new Hotel. A Harristown RV beside the new Ballymun Plaza Hotel. And no im serious, there really is a Ballymun Plaza Hotel.

Les Dennis

Wow Dublin Airport going all out hiring Les Dennis to do a bit of advertising. I suppose theres not much else the poor chap can do, hes hardly a busy man these days. A Merc Bendy carries a advertisement for the D.A.A. , and its not really Les Either ;) !

Double Bendy

A Blurry shot of the new Double Bendy Buses in Ballymun. :) :)

Where Next?

Here's another photo from Ballymun. This time in Poppintree. Route 220 is a disaster. It gives you the Grand tour of Finglas & Blanch and isn't very regular. The hours I've stood at bus stops in the rain waiting for one of these fookers.

A Phibsboro AX picks up in Poppintree on an outbound journey to Blanch

Omni

Was down the omni today, trying to get a photo of the new Dublin Bus logo on one of the WV,s. Got a bit hungry so popped into Eddie Rockets. As soon as i got in one WV went by complete with the new logos. So i missed it, ahh well ill try to get it again. Meanwhile two photos taking in the grounds of the omni shopping centre today.

Armed Cash Van Crash Coolock/M1 Flyover

Nothing to do with buses but I was in the right place at the right time for these photos. An Armed cash van convoy crashed in to another car today. A woman had to be cut free from the car, it took the fire brigade about 20 minutes to free the woman. Armed Army and gardai kept a close eye on the van, which was on its way back to the Brinks money depo nearby.

A Shiny New AX on the 17A

Now here's something you don't see everyday. One of Harristowns shiny new AX,s on the 17A. This route rarely gets a new bus so its about bloody time. Lets hope the granny's enjoyed it, because there wont be another one around for a few weeks ide say!

Let Me Out

Be nice people now y'all don't forget to let our buses pull out!

13 On Its Home Turf

A number 13 bus on its home turf in Ballymun. Routes 13/13A do the 'Tour De Ballymun' before heading to/from City Centre.

Bad DMD Day

A RV in Ballymun having a bad DMD day. The Dmd actually looks better in the 'inside out format'. The Flats in the background of the photo above will not be there much longer! I have to get a few photos of buses around Ballymun before the tower blocks go, always makes an interesting photo when there in the background.

To Da Airport Bud

My god, whats this? People walking with suitcases from Harristown towards the airport... I kid you not. I really did observe a couple of young wans getting of a 13A near Harristown with suitcases heading towards the airport complete with beer & alco pops in hands. A long walk ahead of them ide say the driver had the last laugh!

Below: Heres a bus that really does go through the Airport and wont leave you a mile outside it!

Hey Clontarf Wheres the WV,s Gone?

Ive noticed a lot of WV,s missing of routes 103/104. It seems a waste putting AV,s on this route as there always empty. Just a quick thought.... Bring back the MV,s! Two photos of an AV at the 103 terminus in the omni today.

27 A Handy Little Number

I was around route 27 area today observing the goings on. Well what a handy little bus route this is. Buses running nearly every 5 mins sometimes up to every 2 Mins! With a nice QBC all along the Malahide Rd this is a great route in my books. Didn't manage to get any AV,s on it today just RV,s. Two photos taking earlier today in Coolock North Dublin.

07 July 2007

Dual Doored Solo

Now before you all start, i know this has nothing to do with the bus scene around the beautifull North Dublin. This is a left hand drive prototype of the solo we were talking about before. Not a bad looking bus me thinks , hopefully see them here in the future!

06 July 2007

You Miss them really

Ahh look at the poor little AD looking all sad. We do miss them really..... NOT!

Another One For The Megarear Collection

Im actually going to build up a collection of all the different megarears around Dublin. This one advertising a Pajero jeep. Photograph was taking on Parnell Square tonight.

All quite at the 16 Terminus

Paid a quick visit to the 16 terminus in Santry tonight hoping to catch a few new AX (ALX400) buses, instead i caught an RV and a dual door AV (the one we photographed the other day with the megarear). The terminus is in a Quite Residential location not too far from Santry Garda station and near the DCU also.

Old Timer

Spotted this old timer in Ballymun earlier today. Its reg number was 79D-1057. At first i thought it was one of the MVPSI ,s twin deckers but it was too old for one of them. Well its a change that the usual yellow and blue deckers.
Aaron Donohoe has left info about this bus in the comment section below.
Thanks Aaron!

A Jaunt Around North Dublin.

Jesus whats up with the weather lately? Rain rain and more rain. A quick jaunt around Santry/Ballymun and Killester this evening. Strange to note route 31B still mainly operated by RV class deckers, one would think that AV,s would be the main stay of this route by now. Nice to see the 42A getting some AV class deckers as well. Weather playing havoc with the photos today, but sure what could one do.

Weather wise...

Weather wise it was a brutal day in Dublin this morning. A short wander through Santry got these photos this AM. Photos not the best because of the rain.

04 July 2007

Route 104

I got reports yesterday of an RV on the 104. I went chasing it but never found it. Clontarf seem to be slipping on allocations. Here's a photo today of an AV on the 104. A horrible day in North Dublin today with heavy showers and short breaks of sunny spells , not very good weather for taking photos.

Harry Flies Through Santry

Harry Potter himself flew through Santry this morning. Well almost, he was stuck to the back of a Dublin Bus. This is another good megarear from Titan.

03 July 2007

What website you from?

Had to laugh today, I took this photo while i was stuck in traffic in Eden Quay. The driver seen me taking it, he stopped beside me and said 'Which website you from then' . Anyways i told him where, so if your reading this a big hello to you! Don't forget to add us to your favourites :)

Here's another photo taking a few minutes later, of a Bus Eireann CIE Tours SP. This bus just came out of the Dublin Port Tunnel

Missed it today.

I was following this bus hoping to get a nice photo of it in Dublin Port Tunnel. However when we got to the tool booth at the port side it got delayed and we went straight through. So you just have to settle for a photo of the rear of it for now.

A Solo In Town

Heres a nice little optare solo bus that operates around town. Solos are getting popular around Dublin now, with a few now operating around the airport. I hear there are plans to for a dual door solo model. You heard it here first!

How you Doin?

This is what i call a mega rear. I wouldn't mind being stuck in traffic behind this bus. Makes a show of the posh spice rear. Come on Titan lets have more of these aswell. ;)

02 July 2007

Lets have more of these please.

Doesn't a megarear look very well on an AV. Only a small amount of AV,s have ever received megarears, but they suit the bus very well. Photo below shows AV130 with a rear for DAA Dublin Airport. Captured in Santry North Dublin, before the bus ventures over to the south side.... lol.

The Second photo shows you what the same rear is like on a RV type bus.

More Students Arrive

See I told you so, the great invade of the Spanish students is here. Spotted one of Circle Lines Marco Polos on unfamiliar territory with a 3 bell load. God help the driver is all i can say!

The 17A (My Favourite Route)

The 17A used to be my main route to/from work and friends , but the waiting times and unreliable service made me get a car. Havnt been on a 17A in a good few months but take some photos when i get the chance. The route itself is now operated by RV class deckers so its become a bit boring. Never thought ide say this but bring back the AD,s and RH,s, and maybe a KD or two. Go on nobodys looking! ;)

Back to normal on the 104.

It seems the 104 has its normal allocation of low floor buses today, after the shock of an RA on it earlier in the week. This WV is seen outside the funeral home on the Oscar Traynor Rd.

The Front of this WV has seen better days.

Spanish Students

Its that time of year again, when we get invaded by them pests from Spain. It seems on the Northside Barretts have won the contract again to transport them around. They are using an Ex Dublin bus Merc and this coach above, looks like one of Bus Eireann,s VC class.

Bleedin Taxi!

Bleeding Taxi spoiling my shot of a RA on the lovley 130 route, right in the heart of 'Dolly Mixture' land (Clontarf). Taxi,s never around when you need one and always here when you dont!

Can you spot the Stena ferry approaching Dublin Port?

Joining Together

I see the Crown Plaza Hotel and Holiday Inn Express at Santry have joined together to provide a shuttle bus service to the Airport. Two Photos of the Ciatro below. The bus is covered in a Wrap advertising the two Hotels. Putting wraps over windows is a big no no in my books. No Matter how much you can see through them it makes the interior of the bus very dark.. creepyyyy...
